A quick update of this tool in order to add the latest 3dsmax9 features, people found that some menus were missing from the Quad menus when the old script was installed. Stich, Sketch, Pack, and Relax menus should be back were originally are in 3dsmax9.

WOW!
this macroscript is one of the most useful pieces of code in the max script community!! I really don’t know why autodesk don’t rip this one, and make the UVW window more like this! Thank You VERY MUCH!
You should plug this one in the Area. IMO

I’m glad to hear it works for you!, although I cannot take credit for all of it, the original Unwrap Tools was released by Steve Johnson long time ago.
I revised the code, added a few useful options and mantained it so it works for the latests versions of 3dsMax.
Many Thanks Rene!

Thank you for this very useful script.

thanks dude.. you are a full bodily oiled greek god of unwrapping.
The Autodesk slackers could learn a lot here.

This is much appreciated, thank you for doing this! I heard about it here:
http://boards.polycount.net/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=136963&an=&page=0&vc=1
A couple improvements I’d love to see if possible…
1. Doesn’t seem to remember any changes I make like turning off the checkbox for Soft Selection Edge Distance, or changing which rollouts are open or closed.
2. Always defaults to Vertex sub-object mode. When you change the modifier’s sub-object, the script doesn’t change its sub-object to match.
3. I’d remove the Dump rollout completely, it uses super-slow code. The new Render UVW Template in the Tools menu is soooo much faster (and better options too).
Once again, thanks for the upgrade!

I am new to turbo unwrap. I heard of its reputation. However I have problems using it.
I am using 3dmax 9(32 bit), does this version of unwrap works for my 3dmax?
And do I need to get my hands on its TurboUvwUnwrap.dlm? Heard from lots of forum saying its a requirement.
However when I put in into the plugins it failed to initialize.
Help needed here. Thanks in Advance.
Cheers =)

When will be availabe an update for max2008?
January 11th, 2008 at 11:15 am
The tool is wonderful but i’ve found a strange bug in 1.5 version: when collapsing the UV unwrap modifier in the stack, max crashes!
Anyone else has the same problem?

Ive got a question. After you hit the little button with the “<” at the top to hide the the scripts menu, how do you bring it back?
March 27th, 2008 at 6:57 pm

Then push the “>” on the left side.

Hi Josh,
To install the script all you have to do is to decompress the file you have downloaded into the 3dsmax main directory.
For 3dsmax 2008 it usually would be something like:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008
I hope this helps!.

Can you explain the process for REMOVING this script?
When I remove the files added, I have numerous issues with max.
In the end I had to reinstall max to get it working properly.
Is there something I missed? Can an ‘uninstall and remove’ script be added?

Thanks Diego, that helps alot actually!

Hi Josh,
Is it causing you problems when you install it ?
When you install it, make sure you have a backup of the files that are overwritten, Macro_UnwrapUI.mcr is replaced by the one in from the zip file.
You are totally right, an installer would be much better than having to do it manually… I will try to put something together for the next version! sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi! I don’t know if any of you guys have the same problem, but the Falloff controller inside of Soft Selection is gray out and can’t be change.
April 29th, 2008 at 6:53 am
You are totally right! I’ve enabled it, it will be fixed as soon as I release the new version. For now, I know it updates if you activate soft selection / close the unwrap dialog / open it again.
hope this helps!
thanks for the feedback.

Working with the tools is great how ever i came across a bug.. when in the edit UVW’s window in vertex mode, how come i can select some vertex’s but other i can’t select at all when i switch to any of the other modes its fine.
My real issue is if i can match up the vertex’s it will just end up breaking my normal maps.

This is a great script. Thanks for updating it to the newer versions. I do want to ask, I am using 2008 and it is there, but the icons don’t have any images on them, blank buttons. I put the icon file in the icon folder. Is there a work around for this since I am new to using turbo I’m not completely sure what is where?
Thanks Diego for your work on this.
June 23rd, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Ooooo, nevermind. I was applying the turbounwrap directly as a modifier, not realizing just using the regular unwrap UV would also show the options. Now I see them. This is soooooo much help!!! Thanks again Diego!
